Because of the pandemic and various other reasoning I am unemployed at the moment, which I am not going to lie can be super scary somedays! I am fortunate that we have a homestead and are growing our own vegetables as we have done for years. The garden gives me a chance to help provide for my family and know that no matter how crazy things get in this world we will have food now and this winter. I am in the thick of vegetable processing, cukes, beans, broccoli and greens are ever abundant. Our tomato plants are loaded with fruit and they are ripening one at a time. Working in the garden brings me peace and joy at the same time.

We try and eat as little processed food as possible, I make as many things from scratch as I can. Yesterdays project was a garden soup to use up some vegetables, also I added wild turkey that my husband and son harvested last season and put some pinto and black beans that I had gotten for 50 cents a bag at the local supermarket. I pressure canned the soup and it is on the shelf and ready for winter. Apple crisp was made and green beans were processed. Todays project is to make some raspberry jam and harvest more cukes, greens and of course more beans.
Because of this pandemic there is a shortage of canning and cooking supplies, today I must go to town to try and track down more supplies, our homestead is in a small town in Maine so we do not have our own grocery store. We go to the next town over to get supplies, I love country life though and wouldn't want it any other way. I found a really good deal on canning jars at my favorite place to shop online Amazon and thought I would share it, not sure how long they will last!
